The Washington State front campus was packed today with students and faculty eager to celebrate the college’s annual Spring Picnic. This year’s theme was Viva Las Vegas, complete with pictures of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe frozen among the cafeteria windows, a “high roller” room, and volunteers in poker hats serving a delicious meal. There were other fun events at the picnic as well, such as a live DJ and magician, raffles for baskets of items, cornhole, Rock Band and Mario Kart in the community room, tie-dyeing with the diversity club, and an enthusiastic egg drop right beside the reception desk.
Mary Ann Abbott, a loyal attendee at the picnic, dressed in a bride’s gown for the event. “You can’t go to Vegas and not get married!” she yelled, jokingly.
Two Washington State students, Leila Schexneider and Ryan Sampson, said that this was their first picnic in the three years they had been there and they enjoyed the food and music most of all.
In the end, the 2008 Spring Picnic was a success despite the fact that it was held indoors due to rainy weather. But then again, how could it be held outside? You know what they say: what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. |
