MARIETTA, Ohio (February 3, 2015) - Washington State Community College (WSCC) will host the statewide college financial aid event "College Goal Sunday" (CGS) on February 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the CB&T Building on campus. The free event, presented by the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA) and endorsed by the Ohio Board of Regents, assists students and parents with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the federal application that is required to receive federal financial aid including the Federal Pell Grant and student loans as well as the need-based state grants. Shannon Venezia, Director of Financial Aid at WSCC, says that "Many families are intimidated by the FAFSA. We want to assist families with the process because it isn't as intimidating as it may first appear. In fact, it takes the average person only 20 minutes and 7 seconds to complete the FAFSA and the dependent student (first time completing the FAFSA) only 33 minutes and 36 seconds." Due to the great demand expected for assistance in completing the FASFA, families are encouraged to register for the free event at Please contact WSCC's financial aid office at 740.568-1908 with any questions regarding this event.

JD-WSCCcoachderryMARIETTA, Ohio (January 12, 2015) – Washington State Community College (WSCC) looks forward to an exciting season for the Men's Basketball Team (the Bucks) which opened the season with an exciting exhibition game in December against Kent State – Tuscarawas. The Bucks, with new Head Coach Josh Derry at the helm, hit the court in practice this past fall in preparation for the challenging season. The purpose of the exhibition game was "to gain experience and to get their feet wet," said Head Coach Josh Derry. Although the Men's Basketball Team has been in place at WSCC for a few years, this season brings a heightened level of competitiveness. In addition, this is the first year that the team will be hosting games at home venues. The first of these home games takes place on January 18th against Ohio State University's JV Team at Parkersburg High School. The home venues will provide the local community with the perfect opportunity to come out and support the team.
