ADN student tries out new laptop

MARIETTA, Ohio (October 2014) – Washington State Community College (WSCC) is keeping up with technology in the classroom with a pilot program in the Associate Degree Nursing program. "We work very hard at Washington State to ensure the highest level of instructional technology. This is recognized as essential for a high quality learning experience. The integration and provision of personal computers into nursing education is a typical example of the innovation one will see at WSCC," Dr. Bradley Ebersole, President of Washington State Community College said. The Health Sciences Department at WSCC is requiring that all of the first year ADN students have laptop computers. A majority of the students purchased their new laptops through WSCC.

MARIETTA, Ohio (September 18, 2014) – This Fall Semester, Washington State Community College (WSCC) welcomed several new AmeriCorps college guides to assist in different divisions on campus and recently celebrated their 20th anniversary."This is the fifth year that the AmeriCorps College Guides have served on WSCC's campus. These recent college graduates assist our college by providing extra contact and face-to-face time with students and potential students. They promote educational awareness, college access, and help current students succeed, in addition to being role models for civic participation through Service Projects like the Day of Remembrance, throughout the year. In return for their service, they get a small stipend, an educational award, and valuable life experiences and career development that helps them move to the next stage in their lives, which often includes graduate school or a career in higher education," said David Scheimann, Director of Retention, Completion & The Center for Student Success at WSCC.

Brad Merritt delivers lecture

MARIETTA, Ohio (September 17, 2014) – On Wednesday, September 17, Washington State Community College (WSCC) celebrated Constitution Day with a lecture, discussion, and voter registration. Constitution Day is a day set aside to commemorate the document that our Founding Fathers wrote to establish our rights and freedoms as well as the three branches of our government. The U.S. Constitution was signed and adopted on September 17, 1787 when the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time in Philadelphia.
