MARIETTA, Ohio (November 13, 2014) – This past Thursday, the Alpha Rho Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Washington State Community College (WSCC) inducted 30 new members for the Fall 2014 Semester. Brad Merritt, Phi Theta Kappa Advisor, gave an introduction and closing remarks. Dr. Bradley Ebersole, President of WSCC, gave welcoming remarks, Robert Pauley, President of the Alpha Rho Gamma Chapter inducted the new members, and Melinda Norris made recognitions.

MARIETTA, Ohio (November 6, 2014) – Have you ever wanted to drive a car 100mph? Are you interested in a career in oil and gas? Would you like to see some inventive ways to "Shine a Shoe?" Then save the date of Monday, November 17th for Washington State Community College's (WSCC) Business, Engineering, Industrial Technologies and Workforce Development (BEITW) division's open house. From 5pm to 8:30pm, you can visit six different stations throughout the Engineering Wing at WSCC: Welding Shop, Machine Shop, Petroleum Industry, Instrumentation, Automotive Shop, and a Motorcycle Display. At 6pm in the Commons, the "Freshman Engineering Design Contest" (formerly the Rube Goldberg contest) will take place with 8 projects demonstrating unique ways to "Shine a Shoe." Refreshments will be available, and the event is free and open to the public.

MARIETTA, Ohio (November 6, 2014) – Looking for a spooky fun way to support a great cause? Then join the Criminal Justice Club of Washington State Community College (WSCC) for their annual 3K Zombie Run! Walk, stumble, crawl, or fun run your way to the finish line! The 3K Zombie Run takes place on Saturday, November 15th. Gates open at noon, and the run begins at 3pm (evacuate by 7pm). Held on the hiking trails of WSCC, "the Zombie Run Challenge is meant to be a friendly competition between the living and the undead."

suzy photoMARIETTA, Ohio (October 21, 2014) - Governor Kasich has appointed Susan Vessels as a Trustee of Washington State Community College (WSCC) for a six-year term. A 1996 Princeton University graduate, Ms. Vessels served four years on active duty in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Captain. She graduated from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2003 and has been living in Marietta since then. Her career has included service as a law clerk in the Third West Virginia Circuit and as an assistant Washington County Prosecutor. She is married to Ethan Vessels, and they have three children. Ms. Vessels is looking forward to contributing to the continued improvement and success of Washington State Community College.
