Dr. Ziad Akir is Director of E-Learning at WSCC. He has been the director since 2007. Dr. Akir was an Instructional Technology Systems Manager at the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research at Western Illinois University. He completed his Ph.D. in Mass Communication/Telecommunication in 2006 at Ohio University. Dr. Akir is the end-user and course administrator of the learning management system (Sakai). He is a member of the college-wide continuous improvement team. Recently, he worked with a team of faculty and staff on an online student success Action Project in which they looked at the issues and actions related to retention in and student readiness for online instruction.
Mollie Jarrell is Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Public Service Programs at WSCC. She teaches in the Criminal Justice Program. Mollie completed her BS in Criminal Justice at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. She also completed a law degree at West Virginia University.
Debbie Unsold is Associate Professor of Developmental Reading at WSCC. Debbie completed her MA in Reading at Bowling Green University. She became a full time faculty member two years ago.
Tami Tuten began at WSCC in 1991 as Early Childhood Development adjunct and became full time ECDV Program Director in 2000. She serves on Student Learning, Evergreen Arts & Humanities, and Diversity & Social Justice Committees. She is State Officer for Ohio Coalition of Associate Degree Early Childhood Programs. Tami began her doctoral studies at OSU in which she was able to visit a preschool in Ghana, Africa. She has been a presenter at various state early childhood conferences and had a project published for Ohio Resource Center for Math, Science, and Reading.
Ben Rutherford began at Washington State Community College in 2006 as an Instructor of Philosophy and Chemistry. He serves as Faculty Senate President, Curriculum Committee Chair, and Liberal Arts Department Chair. Ben completed all class work from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, adding to his knowledge of biology and chemistry.
