WSCC Celebrates First Homecoming, “Journeys”
Washington State Community College is proud to announce the celebration of its first-ever Homecoming, starting October 24 and continuing through October 28. The 2011 Homecoming theme is "Journeys", which acknowledges and commemorates our past, present, and future students and graduates. Washington State is making a special effort to include activities throughout the week to be enjoyed by past, present, and future students with events including: a mascot reveal, Green and White Day, a new Nursing Lab dedication, homecoming receptions for each academic division, and an Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series (EAHS) lecture presentation, among many others.
A highlight of Washington State's 2011 Homecoming includes a combination of education, technical training, and local businesses with the Workforce Business Luncheon. The luncheon will be hosted by Laurene Huffman, executive director of Washington State's Workforce Development. According to Huffman, the luncheon will include business clients of WSCC Workforce Development. It will be held in the Center for Business and Technologies on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Following the new Nursing Lab Dedication on Thursday, Oct. 27, three Homecoming Receptions will each recognize an academic division at Washington State. Health Sciences will start the celebration off in the Student Commons from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Arts & Sciences reception will follow in the Arts & Sciences building's new teaching lab, room 106, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Business, Engineering & Industrial Technologies (BE&IT) reception will coincide in the Engineering Wing Lobby, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
After the Arts & Sciences and BE&IT receptions come to a close, Assistant Professor Casey Corbett will begin his fascinating lecture covering the current digital gaming industry, 3-D technology and motion-capture systems during the EAHS event in the Graham Auditorium, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
