Ohio Representative Debbie Phillips Visits WSCC
Ohio 94th District Representative Debbie Phillips visited the Washington State Community College (WSCC) campus on Tuesday, April 17th to kick off Green Week and Earth Day celebrations at the college. Rep. Phillips began her tour of campus meeting with WSCC President Dr. Bradley Ebersole and Ken Schilling, Chair of the WSCC Board of Trustees. Next, Rep. Phillips met Business, Engineering and Industry Technologies professors Janet Schilling, and Bob Feathers, as well as Chief Academic Officer Dr. Mark Nutter, to discuss the college's Oil and Gas Training Strategy during a tour of the Engineering Wing. Rep. Phillips also viewed and toured the Agribusiness Lab and Greenhouse, recently constructed in 2010; Agribusiness Management Professor Sara Camacho spoke with Rep. Phillips about WSCC's Agribusiness degree program.

With the recent expansion of TV22 programming, Rep. Phillips toured the Digital Media Lab with Digital Media Professor Troy DeVol. Marketing Executive Director Claudia Owens discussed WSCC's newest television show, "OnCampus", as well as other TV22 programming.
Rep. Phillips also met with Health Sciences faculty to discuss Allied Health and the 13 health sciences programs at WSCC.
Lastly, Evergreen Arts & Humanities Director Tanya Wilder gave Rep. Phillips a walking tour of the Arts & Sciences Building, including the Graham Auditorium which features Evergreen Series events. David Scheimann showed Rep. Phillips the Student Success Center, which provides students with tutoring, free internet/printer access, and lap top and calculator loans. At the end of Representative Phillip's visit college president Dr. Ebersole commented, "It was a pleasure to have Representative Phillips on campus to see firsthand how this college serves the community. She met with faculty and students and could sense the very positive energy we experience every day. As a new president I look forward to developing a strong and supportive relationship with Debbie."
