The College Tech Prep program was established in 1992 through the efforts of the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio Board of Regents, according to Gary Williams, director of Tech Prep. Funding comes from the Carl D. Perkins Act, with the program designed to provide area students with the necessary academic and technical skills to meet the ever-changing demands of our local workforce. It is one of six Regional Centers serving career and technical students throughout Ohio.

Through College Tech Prep, students in Washington, Morgan, and Meigs counties are provided with opportunities to excel in the various programs. Upon completion of the program, students are then encouraged to enroll in a two or four-year college program and may be eligible to take advantage of college credits at Washington State Community College (WSCC).
