Do you want to feel more comfortable using a computer? Improve your skills – for free – at Washington State Community College's Technology Workshop, being held January 7, 8, and 9 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Technology Workshop is being held at the Center for Student Success at the Washington State Community Campus (WSCC) campus.

For those who have been out of school for a while or have little experience with computers, the Technology Workshop helps teach needed skills in the following areas: Microsoft Word, browsing the web, and saving computer documents.

Have you ever had any of the following questions:

Which type of device stores the most information – a CD rom, computer hard drive, floppy disk, or thumb drive?

How do you open multiple web pages within a single window? How does that make surfing the web easier?

How do you open a program, such as Microsoft Word, when there is no icon on the screen?

How do you save a document on a public computer?

If so, the Technology Workshop can help you understand and answer those questions and more.

According to Center Director David Scheimann, participants will learn useful computer terminology; navigate Word and other Microsoft Office programs; access and use WSCC's email, web advisor, and online learning system; as well as send documents electronically.

The free Technology Workshop is Monday, January 7 through Wednesday, January 9 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Center for Student Success, located on the first floor of the Arts & Sciences Center on the WSCC campus at 710 Colegate Drive in Marietta.

If you have questions or want to sign up for the free Technology Workshop, contact the Center for Student Success at 740.568.1913.
