WSCC to Hold Organic Chemistry Workshop
Washington State Community College instructor Dr. Deborah Rosenthal will be offering a free Organic Chemistry Workshop in June for interested college students in the area. The workshop will take place from Monday, June 10 until Thursday, June 13, and will run from 9:00 a.m. until noon each day. The only pre-requisite for the Organic Chemistry Workshop is one high school, or college-level course in chemistry. "I encourage students that will be taking organic chemistry in the fall to attend," says Rosenthal. "We will cover topics to help them in Organic Chemistry."
The workshop was created to address specific topics in organic chemistry that are not encountered in the college-freshmen chemistry sequence. "I feel if students are exposed to these topics before they enter organic chemistry they will be more likely to be successful when they take the year-long sequence which is a pre-requisite for many pre-professional degrees."
An organic molecular model kit will be given to students to use during the course, and they will be allowed to keep it once the course has been completed.
Anyone interested in participating in the Organic Chemistry Workshop should contact Dr. Rosenthal by calling 740.374. 8716 ext. 2147, or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
