Series Opening Benefit Concert Features Samité of Uganda

samite-mic-smThe Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series at Washington State Community College is pleased to present the kickoff to its 15th season with Grammy nominated musician and humanitarian Samité, a refugee of Uganda on September 21, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.

Born and raised in Uganda, Samité (Sæm ē tay) is a world-renowned musician, humanitarian, and photographer. He travels the world bringing his message of peace and hope through the healing power of music. "While performing, I see that people are able to forget their differences and join as one in the moment; my hope is for that moment to last. If we can make that moment last, the world will be a better place."

Before the concert, an opening reception for the Fall Semester Art Exhibit begins at 6:30 p.m., with the performance starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 21. Tickets to the opening benefit, the only Series event for which there is a charge, cost $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and children under 12.

All Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series programs are held in the Graham Auditorium on the Washington State Community College campus, at 710 Colegate Drive in Marietta.
