Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series Kicks Off 15th Season
Series Opening Benefit Concert Features Samité of Uganda
The Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series at Washington State Community College is pleased to present the kickoff to its 15th season with Grammy nominated musician and humanitarian Samité, a refugee of Uganda on September 21, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.
Born and raised in Uganda, Samité (Sæm ē tay) is a world-renowned musician, humanitarian, and photographer. He travels the world bringing his message of peace and hope through the healing power of music. "While performing, I see that people are able to forget their differences and join as one in the moment; my hope is for that moment to last. If we can make that moment last, the world will be a better place."
Before the concert, an opening reception for the Fall Semester Art Exhibit begins at 6:30 p.m., with the performance starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 21. Tickets to the opening benefit, the only Series event for which there is a charge, cost $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and children under 12.
All Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series programs are held in the Graham Auditorium on the Washington State Community College campus, at 710 Colegate Drive in Marietta.
Advance reservations can be made by calling Tanya Wilder at 740.374.8716, ext. 2107 or by emailing email@example.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the door on the evening of the concert. More information on the performer can be found at www.samite.com.

In addition, this project is supported in part by the Ohio River Border Initiative, a joint project of the Ohio Arts Council and the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
