President Ebersole Challenges WSCC Students to Stay on Track for Graduation...Agree to Complete

20140717 jessica harlowWashington State Community College (WSCC) is making preparations for a Special Registration Week which runs July 21-25. Amanda Herb, MBA, Vice President of Enrollment and Student Success at WSCC, stresses the importance of registering before August; "Many people aren't aware of the time that it takes to complete the enrollment process." It's imperative for continuing students to stay on track for completion. This week is the perfect time for adult and continuing students to come in and register for classes. The staff and faculty will be on hand throughout the week to advise and assist students with scheduling and registration questions. Dr. Bradley Ebersole, WSCC President, in a recent call to current WSCC students who have not registered for fall semester, challenged them to "agree to complete!" WSCC invites the community to visit and tour the campus, enjoy hot dogs, popcorn, games, and fun family events during the week. Take part in the WSCC "Selfie Photo Contest" on campus and win a prize! If you are looking for a fun way to exercise, meet new people, and earn college credit, then stop by to learn more about WSCC's recreational courses such as Zumba, Strength Training, Karate, and Cardio-kickboxing.

WSCC's Special Registration Week is also the perfect time to find out more about the new one-year certificate programs. Welding, Pharmacy Technician, Petroleum Industry, Multi-Craft for Industry, and POBA (Peace Officer Basic Academy), have all been approved as one-year certificate programs and for funding. Students that enroll in these programs now have the benefits of financial assistance and certificate completion in one year.

Financial assistance and scholarships are a huge component in registering for college classes. Although the priority processing date (July 7th) for continuing students to submit the FAFSA has passed, students may still apply for financial aid but should be prepared to make payment arrangements if they have been selected for verification. Shannon Venezia, Director of Financial Aid at WSCC, can assist students who are struggling with financial aid and understanding their benefits. Financial Aid Advisors will be available throughout Special Registration Week to guide students through the process as well.

Washington State Community College offers over 40 degree programs and 14 certificate programs. Day, evening, weekend, and blended classes are available. Online programs are also available with over 83 courses and two complete online degree programs. Now is the time to explore your career options, prepare for a higher paying job, change your career, or learn a new trade. It all starts with Admissions at WSCC. Stop in during Special Registration Week, take a tour of the campus, and visit Student Services; WSCC is ready to assist you!
