20130522 evergreenThe Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series of Washington State Community College (WSCC) will close out its 14th season with the annual Mother's Day Concert featuring award-winning pianist Richard Glazier, who will perform his concert " A Salute to the American Song" at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 12 in the Graham Auditorium. This will be Glazier's second visit to WSCC's campus for the Evergreen Series.


20130512 ebersole-presentingThe Foundation Board of Directors at Washington State Community College is excited to announce a new scholarship for college-aged students who are adopted, or have ever been in the foster care system. The Wendy's® Adoption Scholarship Endowment Fund will provide important financial support to eligible students who seek education opportunities at WSCC. This scholarship opportunity is a result of the partnership between the WSCC Foundation and the generous benefactors, Ray and Kim Blackburn. The Blackburns own Wendy's® franchises in Parkersburg, WV and throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley.


20130512 mathsummit3Washington State Community College (WSCC) held a Math Summit on Friday, April 19th. The summit came during the heart of Community College Month, and its purpose was to bring attention to the math-skills gap that is causing problems for some area high school graduates when they begin math studies at the college level. The day-long summit brought secondary and post-secondary math educators together to brainstorm solutions for this skills gap, particularly as it pertains to lack of retention of previously learned material. Several area math educators and school administrators were in attendance.

20130422 diesel-studentWashington State Community College (WSCC) announces the donation of diesel engines, truck parts, and a truck to classrooms. "The college is very grateful for these generous contributions from Cummins Bridgeway, Fyda Freightliner, and Hino Motors," comments WSCC President Dr. Bradley Ebersole. "With this valuable equipment, we are able to continue providing the best training of auto and diesel mechanics, who I hope will one day be productive workers for these renowned organizations. These are outstanding partnerships for Washington State."


Local Businesses and Educators Continue Commitment to Encouraging Local Youth to Pursue Careers in Science and Technology

yesdays1resizedWashington State Community College was excited to host the 21st annual Young Engineers and Scientists (YES) Days on April 11 and 12—an event for Washington and Morgan County 7th graders. YES Days activities were spread over two days and taught students about science and engineering careers in the Mid-Ohio Valley, within the state, and beyond. This year, over 700 students from 12 schools participated in the event.
