MARIETTA, Ohio (February 17, 2015) – The Washington State Community College (WSCC) Foundation is happy to announce that WSCC students will have more scholarship opportunities available in the 2015-16 school year thanks to the generosity of several donors. Adding to an existing base of more than $55,000 awarded through the Foundation, these new scholarships include: The Holmes Family Scholarship, the WSCC Foundation Alumni & Friends Association Scholarship, the Barrett-Hager Scholarship for Excellence and Leadership in Industrial and Engineering Technologies, the James R. Farley Sr. Scholarship, the Kenneth Funk Memorial Scholarship, and the expansion of the Bettie B. Goehring Memorial Scholarship. The application deadline for most Foundation scholarships is April 16, 2015. All scholarships require a completed application, a completed FAFSA on file, and are only applicable towards tuition, fees and books, in that order.


MARIETTA, Ohio (February 12, 2015) – Washington State Community College (WSCC) proudly announces and congratulates the students who earned Dean’s List and President’s List for fall 2014. To achieve Dean’s List, students must have a GPA between 3.5 and 3.99. The requirement for President’s List for a full-time student carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours is a GPA of 4.0 for a semester’s work.


Early College Academy Crest WhiteMARIETTA, Ohio (February 10, 2015) – The month of February is Early College Month and Washington State Community College (WSCC) is celebrating with the introduction of the WSCC Early College Academy. For years, WSCC has offered area high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while attending high school. The most familiar of these programs at WSCC was PSEO (post-secondary enrollment option). Recently, the Ohio Board of Regents announced changes to early college options; giving students and their families more flexibility. During a visit to WSCC last August, Chancellor John Carey, discussed the State's vision for early college options which have been renamed College Credit Plus.


amanda westMARIETTA, Ohio (February 5, 2015) – Washington State Community College (WSCC) proudly announces the Student of the Month Program which recognizes students who represent what WSCC strives for: student success. This program has been created to recognize those students that strive for success by overcoming obstacles, and committing to complete their education. The goal is to seek out those students that may otherwise go unrecognized, but have the ability to succeed regardless of any hurdles they may face.

MARIETTA, Ohio (February 4, 2015) – The Bernard McDonough Foundation board recently approved a grant for Washington State Community College's (WSCC) welding program. The grant was for the generous amount of $25,000 for the purpose of advancing the new welding program that began at WSCC this past fall. Dr. Robert Stephens, President of the McDonough Foundation, has supported WSCC in the past in developing and approving grants. This particular grant will be used to purchase a virtual welding system. Dr. Bradley Ebersole, President of WSCC, stated that "the McDonough Foundation has been generous to WSCC, and it is our intent to use these funds to continue building our programs that help students gain employable skills."
