DSC01987foundationscholarshipMARIETTA, Ohio (October 8, 2014) – On September 18th, Washington State Community College (WSCC) Foundation held their Scholarship Recognition Reception. Thirty different scholarships totaling $52,000 were presented. A reception, catered by "Just Lunch," followed the recognition of scholarship donors and recipients.
The Alpha Rho Gamma Scholarship was presented by Brad Merritt, Associate Professor of Business Management at Washington State Community College (WSCC). The scholarship was awarded to Meagan M. Negri of Washington County.
The American Association of University Women-Marietta Branch Student Scholarship was presented by Gary Williams and was awarded to Christina A. Friend, Melinda Williams, and Meagan M. Negri all of Washington County, as well as Leigh A. Goodman.
The American Society of Metals Scholarship was presented by Brenda Kornmiller, Dean of Business, Engineering, Industrial Technologies & Workforce Development at WSCC. The recipient of the scholarship was Matthew L. Downs of Morgan County. Brenda also presented the Instrumentation Society of America award to Andrew G. Kasick, the Klamfoth Manufacturing & Welding Memorial Scholarship to Amanda J. Diddle, and the Tri-State Roofing & Sheet Metal Scholarship to Brayden A. Mathess.

On Saturday, May 10th during an alumni reception, the Washington State Community College Foundation will announce winners for this year's Distinguished Alumnus Award to two former WSCC students, George H. McAfee ('87) and Susan d. Strauss ('93). The award is split into two categories: Outstanding Professional Achievement and Outstanding Community Service & Volunteerism.
