MARIETTA, Ohio (February 3, 2015) - Washington State Community College (WSCC) will host the statewide college financial aid event "College Goal Sunday" (CGS) on February 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the CB&T Building on campus. The free event, presented by the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA) and endorsed by the Ohio Board of Regents, assists students and parents with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the federal application that is required to receive federal financial aid including the Federal Pell Grant and student loans as well as the need-based state grants. Shannon Venezia, Director of Financial Aid at WSCC, says that "Many families are intimidated by the FAFSA. We want to assist families with the process because it isn't as intimidating as it may first appear. In fact, it takes the average person only 20 minutes and 7 seconds to complete the FAFSA and the dependent student (first time completing the FAFSA) only 33 minutes and 36 seconds." Due to the great demand expected for assistance in completing the FASFA, families are encouraged to register for the free event at www.ohiocollegegoalsunday.org. Please contact WSCC's financial aid office at 740.568-1908 with any questions regarding this event.
