WSCC Recognizes Rebecca Mullans as September Student of the Month

MARIETTA, OH (September 19, 2016)— Rebecca “Becca” Mullans is a woman who pursues the nontraditional--from her Navy career to her college major, she’s achieving dreams that many women never consider.  It was her extraordinary unconventional academic pursuit that made her September’s Student of the Month at Washington State Community College (WSCC).

Welding Graduate at Washington State Community College Recognized as August Student of the Month

MARIETTA, Ohio (August 24, 2015) – Washington State Community College (WSCC) is excited to announce the August Student of the Month. The program was created to recognize those students that strive for success by overcoming obstacles and committing to complete their education. WSCC has selected Matthew Middleton for recognition as the August Student of the Month.

MARIETTA, Ohio (February 4, 2015) – The Bernard McDonough Foundation board recently approved a grant for Washington State Community College's (WSCC) welding program. The grant was for the generous amount of $25,000 for the purpose of advancing the new welding program that began at WSCC this past fall. Dr. Robert Stephens, President of the McDonough Foundation, has supported WSCC in the past in developing and approving grants. This particular grant will be used to purchase a virtual welding system. Dr. Bradley Ebersole, President of WSCC, stated that "the McDonough Foundation has been generous to WSCC, and it is our intent to use these funds to continue building our programs that help students gain employable skills."

Welding Instructor Josh Horner in beginning stages of new lab

MARIETTA, Ohio (August 28, 2014) – Dr. Bradley Ebersole, President of Washington State Community College (WSCC), welcomed area dignitaries to cut the ribbon on the new state-of-the-art welding lab at WSCC. The new state-of-the-art welding lab at WSCC compliments the new welding certificate program. Certification based on AWS- American Welding Society will be available to students as well. The new state-of-the-art lab and equipment makes the welding program at WSCC stand out from others in the area. Representative Thompson said after the ceremony, "I couldn't be happier for Washington State Community College, its faculty, and the many students who will benefit from this new welding program. I know it was many years in the making and I'm pleased that this goal has been accomplished."

20140724ctr for student successMARIETTA, Ohio (July 22, 2014) – Jack Hershey, the new President and CEO of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC), recently visited Washington State Community College (WSCC) to learn more about how community colleges serve their communities. Mr. Hershey began his visit with an overview of WSCC's mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities. After an introduction of the staff at WSCC, Mr. Hershey introduced himself and gave his impressions of his new position and OACC. The morning meeting with staff included discussions about a completion plan, college credit, enrollment, and the capital bill. Dr. Ebersole, President of WSCC said after the meeting with the new OACC president, "It was a pleasure for the WSCC staff and board to meet Mr. Hershey to share with him our expectations for the OACC, and to hear his vision. He was the right candidate for the position, and I feel certain community colleges in the state will benefit from his leadership and advocacy."
