This year marks the 20th anniversary for YES Days – Young Engineers and Scientists Day – an annual event for Washington and Morgan County 7th graders. YES Days activities are spread over two days and teach students about science and engineering careers in the mid-Ohio Valley, within the state, and beyond. Thirteen schools, with 888 students, are participating in the 2012 YES Days, hosted by Washington State Community College (WSCC), on May 17-18th.

Ohio 94th District Representative Debbie Phillips visited the Washington State Community College (WSCC) campus on Tuesday, April 17th to kick off Green Week and Earth Day celebrations at the college. Rep. Phillips began her tour of campus meeting with WSCC President Dr. Bradley Ebersole and Ken Schilling, Chair of the WSCC Board of Trustees. Next, Rep. Phillips met Business, Engineering and Industry Technologies professors Janet Schilling, and Bob Feathers, as well as Chief Academic Officer Dr. Mark Nutter, to discuss the college's Oil and Gas Training Strategy during a tour of the Engineering Wing. Rep. Phillips also viewed and toured the Agribusiness Lab and Greenhouse, recently constructed in 2010; Agribusiness Management Professor Sara Camacho spoke with Rep. Phillips about WSCC's Agribusiness degree program.

Washington State Community College (WSCC) will showcase the creativity, talent, and dedication of its current and former art students with the premiere of the WSCC Student and Alumni Art Show on Friday, March 30 at the Parkersburg Art Center in West Virginia.

Kelsey Hanson, WSCC art studentTen WSCC students and alumni are presenting about twenty different pieces of artwork, including paintings, drawings, sketches, sculptures, and photography. The Parkersburg Art Center will have the exhibit start March 30th, running through April 28th. 

Several of the participating artists will attend the show’s premiere, along with WSCC Art Instructor John Crum. “This is a great opportunity for our students to show off their work and for the entire mid-Ohio valley community to see what WSCC has to offer,” says Crum.

The WSCC Student and Alumni Art Show premieres at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 30 in the Esbenshade Gallery of the Parkersburg Art Center (725 Market Street, Parkersburg WV).

This morning, Washington State Community College (WSCC) President Bradley Ebersole, along with fellow administration and students from Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Tech Prep, completed a tour with Hino Motors in Williamstown, WV. Stephen Stalnaker, General Manager and Justin Wager, Assistant General Manager of Production conducted the tour throughout the Hino facility.

Washington State Community College (WSCC) is hosting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) workshop this Tuesday, Jan. 24, at no cost to participants.

The Washington State Community College Foundation is proud to announce that 50 scholarships were awarded during its Scholarship Recognition Reception on Thursday, Sept. 29. Over 30 students received the various scholarships, totaling $58,000.
