Liberal Arts Transfer
Employers today demand workers who can integrate knowledge from a variety of areas and communicate complex ideas effectively. As a result they are looking more and more for candidates with strong liberal arts backgrounds.
Washington State provides aspiring liberal arts majors the opportunity to acquire most of the credits they will need to satisfy the general education requirements of any Ohio state-sponsored baccalaureate-granting institution. Since Washington State participates in the Ohio Board of Regents Transfer Module system and Transfer Assurance Guide (TAG), Transfer Module and TAG hours satisfactorily completed at Washington State can be applied to a degree from any other Ohio state-sponsored college or university. As a result, an Associate's degree in Liberal Arts Transfer allows students to complete their first two years of college in a setting that provides smaller classes and more personalized instruction at a much more affordable cost than most four-year schools.
More and more businesses, industries, and public and private agencies are hiring liberal arts graduates because these graduates learn quickly, think critically and independently, communicate effectively, and easily adapt to the global workplace. A Liberal Arts Transfer degree is so diverse that graduates can fill positions from finance to public administration, government to recreation, administration to education and beyond.
At Washington State students can pursue the liberal arts through a major concentration in any one or more of the following areas:
- Art
- Business
- History
- Literature
- Music
- Mathematics
- Philosophy
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Science
- Sociology
- Spanish

The liberal arts transfer program requires core courses in English, speech, math and computer skills, but most courses leading to a major concentration are electives; students can choose the courses that best meet their major concentration. A minimum of 16 credits is required for a major concentration.
Successful completion of the liberal arts transfer curriculum leads to an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts.
