Computer Support Technician
The Computer Support Technician program is for students interested in building, maintaining and troubleshooting microcomputers, installing common telecommunications and network cabling, network administration, and network security basics.Washington State’s Computer Support Technician program features practical hands-on learning in computer diagnostics and networking, team-based lab experiences with a wide variety of equipment and real-world experiences that put your skills to work out in the field during practicum assignments. In addition, this program has some paid internship positions available with employers in the community.
What you will learn
Computer support technician majors work with operating systems, such as Windows 2000/XP Professional and Windows 2003 Server, Linux, and Novell Netware. They also work with networking hardware including UTP and fiber Optic cabling, switches and routers.The goal of this program is to prepare students for entry level positions in the IT field. Students are encouraged to prepare for CompTIA certification exams, including A+ and Network+ certification.The Computer Support Technician curriculum leads to an Associate of Applied Business degree.
