College Tech Prep: Ready for college. Ready for life.

techpreplogoThe Washington-Morgan-Meigs College Tech Prep Consortium is a partnership between Meigs and Morgan High Schools, Washington County Career Center, Marietta High School and Washington State that combines college prep academics with solid career technical training beginning in high school and extending through college. These programs, if completed successfully, can help you enter an advanced skills technical associate degree program at a community or technical college.
Alternatively, you can enter the world of work, the military, or apprenticeships with an array of stronger basic and occupational skills than graduates of general education programs. Many College Tech Prep students go on to enroll in bachelor's degree programs, either after high school graduation or upon successful completion of an associate's degree.
As a College Tech Prep student, you will be enrolled in a state-approved College Tech Prep education program. A College Tech Prep program means a program of study that:

  • Combines, four years of secondary education (as determined by Ohio definitions) with a minimum of two years of postsecondary education in a non-duplicative, sequential course of study.
  • Integrates academic and technical instruction and utilizes work-based and work-site learning, where appropriate and available.
  • Provides technical preparation in a career field such as computer technology; engineering technology; applied science; mechanical, industrial or practical art or trade; agriculture; health occupations; business; or applied economics.
  • Builds student competencies in STEM academics, mathematics, science, reading, writing, communications, economics, and workplace skills through applied, contextual academics and integrated instruction, in a coherent sequence of courses.
  • Leads to an associate or baccalaureate degree or a BAT (Bureau of Apprenticeship Training) apprenticeship requiring a minimum of two years in a specific career field.
  • Leads to placement in appropriate employment or to further education.
  • College Tech Prep students are given the best of both worlds: challenging academics to prepare for college and technical training to prepare them for a highly demanding workforce.

Other benefits of College Tech Prep:

  • The opportunity to apply for one of 12 $2,500 College Tech Prep scholarships at Washington State.
  • The ability to participate in consoritum sponsored activities: Showcase, student recognition dinner, Compass testing, college visitations, Dual Credit courses, and FREE college credit.
  • Coursework that integrates the latest technology for that career field with updated equipment, projects and instruction.

College Tech Prep offers students the option of choosing from various technical fields in which they earn college credit while in high school. With 2+2 and 4+2 seamless pathways, articulation agreements, and family support, College Tech Prep students enter two or four-year college degree programs ahead of their peers.
