Young Engineers and Scientists (YES) Days
April 11 & 12, 2013 at Washington State Community College
This is the 21st Anniversary of YES DAY! here in the Mid-Ohio Valley. The purpose of the program is to help teach students that science and engineering can be fun, as well as to encourage them to pursue a career in science or engineering.
The YES DAY! committee is a community committee that sponsors YES DAY! each year for all Washington and Morgan County 7th graders. Washington State Community College typically hosts 900-1000 7th grade students on campus over two days to learn about Science and Engineering careers in the local area, within the State of Ohio, and beyond.
Schools that participate: Marietta City Schools, Warren Local Schools, Fort Frye Local Schools, Wolf Creek Local Schools, Belpre City Schools, Frontier Local Schools, Morgan Co. Local Schools, and Cornerstone Cooperative home school system.
Some of the participating booth presenters this year include; faculty and staff from WSCC, MC, OU, OSU, & WVU-P; OH state highway patrol, Ohio EPA, NASA Glenn Research Center, Friends of the Lower Muskingum, Morrison's Inc., Dupont, Kraton Polymers, Washington Soil & Water Conservation, Washington Electric Coop, Thermo-Fisher Scientific, Ely Chapman Educational Foundation, American Electric Power, Washington Co. Career Center, Solvay Advanced Polymers, and Marietta Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation.
