Foundation Scholarships

MORE THAN 100 SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded annually by the Washington State College of Ohio Foundation. These scholarships, which are provided by donors to the Foundation, provide financial assistance to part-time and full-time students who are pursuing a degree or certificate at WSCO.

To apply for Foundation scholarships and many other institutional scholarships, complete just ONE application. Your ONE application will automatically allow you to be considered for ALL scholarships for which you are eligible.

Business - Education

Business

Bettie B. Goehring Memorial Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to a full-time student in a Business Technology program. This scholarship was established by her husband, Henry G. Goehring, in memory of Bettie, who served in administrative and executive secretarial functions with Union Carbide Corporation for 38 years.

Donald Morris Charitable Trust Scholarship provides six full-ride scholarships to a student in each of the following programs: Diesel Truck Systems, Accounting Technology, Business Management Technology, Process Technician, Education Transfer, and Practical or Associate Degree Nursing. The scholarships covers tuition, books, and all fees.

Louise Eagleson Holmes Business Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship which provides assistance for the purchase of required textbooks for students enrolled in a Business Technology program. It was established by Louise Holmes, Washington State College of Ohio, Class of 1977.

Nine Oaks Scholarship for Appalachian Service and Development – Business Management is awarded to a non-traditional student enrolled in a Business Management Technology program. Recipients must demonstrate participation in community service and plan to remain in Appalachia after graduation. This scholarship was established by Darren Pitchford.

Nine Oaks Scholarship for Appalachian Service and Development – Digital Technology is awarded to a non-traditional student enrolled in a Digital Technology degree program. Recipients must demonstrate participation in community service and plan to remain in Appalachia after graduation. This scholarship was established by Darren Pitchford.

Education

A.D. Heddelson Family Scholarship provides a full scholarship for tuition, fees and books to a full-time student from the Frontier School District enrolled in an Engineering and Industrial Technology associate degree program, the Associate Degree Nursing program, or the Education Transfer program for the completion of the program.

Donald Morris Charitable Trust Scholarship provides six full-ride scholarships to a student in each of the following programs: Diesel Truck Systems, Accounting Technology, Business Management Technology, Process Technician, Education Transfer, and Practical or Associate Degree Nursing. The scholarships covers tuition, books, and all fees.

Elmer Michaels Family Scholarship provides a full scholarship for tuition, fees and books to a full-time student from the Friendly, West Virginia area (zip code 26146) enrolled in an Engineering and Industrial Technology associate degree program, the Associate Degree Nursing program, or the Education Transfer program for the completion of the program.

Jeanette Ellis Hale Educational Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to a second-year student in an Associate of Arts Transfer Program who is expecting to pursue a bachelor’s in education. The recipient must have participated in extracurricular activities or volunteered in high school. This scholarship was established in recognition of Dr. Hale’s family of dedicated educators.

Shirley Von Brock Wylie Memorial Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship which provides financial assistance to a second-year student in the Education Transfer program. This scholarship was established by the Wylie Family in memory of Shirley Von Brock Wylie, who taught in Ohio schools.

Virgil and Glenda Michaels Family Scholarship provides a full scholarship for tuition, fees and books to a full-time student who graduated from Parkersburg High School (WV) and is enrolled in an Engineering and Industrial Technology associate degree program, the Associate Degree Nursing program, or the Education Transfer program for the completion of the program.

A.D. Heddelson Family Scholarship provides a full scholarship for tuition, fees and books to a full-time student from the Frontier School District enrolled in an Engineering and Industrial Technology associate degree program, the Associate Degree Nursing program, or the Education Transfer program for the completion of the program.

AEP Ohio Scholarship supports a full-time or part-time student enrolled in an associate of applied science degree program and majoring in Instrumentation Control and Electric, or in a certificate program related to the electric industry. The recipient must be an AEP Ohio customer or the child of a customer of AEP Ohio. This scholarship is provided by AEP Ohio.

American Society of Metals Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to a second-year student enrolled in a degree program in Engineering and Industrial Technologies and majoring in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Process Technician, or Robotics & Mechatronics. This scholarship was established by the American Society of Metals.

Barrett-Hager Scholarship for Excellence and Leadership in Industrial and Engineering Technologies is a merit-based scholarship for full-time students enrolled in an Industrial Technologies program at WSCO. Recipients must demonstrate school or community leadership involvement. This scholarship was established by Dr. George McAfee.

Dave and Arlene Archer Family Scholarship supports a full-time or part-time, first-year or non-traditional student enrolled in an Engineering & Industrial Technologies degree program. This scholarship was established by David M. Archer.

Henry Goehring’s Excellence in Engineering Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for students enrolled in an Engineering & Industrial Technologies program. This scholarship was established by Henry G. Goehring.

Instrumentation Society of America Scholarship supports a second-year student in the Engineering Technology program who is majoring in Electrical Engineering. This scholarship was established by the Instrumentation Society of America. Recipients of the scholarship also receive a one-year membership in the ISA.

J. Ryan Graham Memorial Scholarship provides assistance to students pursuing a degree or certificate in an Engineering and Industrial Technologies program. It was established by Daniel K. and Jean G. Graham in memory of their son, Ryan Graham, who had intended to pursue a welding career.

Kraton Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in any of the Industrial Technologies certificate or degree programs. Special consideration will be given to applicants who are veterans or who reside in Belpre, Ohio. This scholarship was established by Kraton Corporation.

Pioneer Family Auto Dealerships Scholarship was established by the Pioneer Family Automotive Group to provide support for a Washington County student, preferably enrolled in the Auto-Diesel Technology program.

Schwendeman Agency Scholarship supports students in Automotive Technology – Diesel Truck Systems, or another in-demand Industrial Technology program. Preference is given to first-generation students.

Tri-State Roofing & Sheet Metal Company Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to a full-time student enrolled in a certificate or degree program in Engineering and Industrial Technologies at Washington State College of Ohio. This scholarship was established by the Tri-State Roofing & Sheet Metal Company.

Virgil and Glenda Michaels Family Scholarship provides a full scholarship for tuition, fees and books to a full-time student who graduated from Parkersburg High School (WV) and is enrolled in an Engineering and Industrial Technology associate degree program, the Associate Degree Nursing program, or the Education Transfer program for the completion of the program.

General

General

American Association of University Women-Marietta Branch Student Scholarship is awarded to a female student in a degree program. This scholarship was established by the Marietta Branch of the AAUW.

Wilson Anderson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a second-year student, with special consideration given to a non-traditional student. This scholarship was established by the children of Wilson Anderson in his memory.

Ethel and James Archer Scholarship supports a first-year or non-traditional student in one of the Arts & Sciences Transfer programs. This scholarship was created by David M. Archer in honor of Ethel Archer, who spent 28 years teaching biology and science courses at St. Mary’s Junior High School in Marietta, Ohio.

The Armored Cadet Fort Frye High School Scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Fort Frye High School.

Dominion East Ohio Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to a student enrolled in an associate degree program and who is a customer of, or is the son or daughter of a customer of, Dominion East Ohio. This scholarship was established by the Dominion Foundation.

Dr. and Mrs. Bradley J. Ebersole Presidential Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to a second-year student enrolled in a degree program, and who demonstrates outstanding leadership potential. This scholarship was established by Dr. Bradley Ebersole and Mrs. Gale Ebersole.

Gretchen S. Feldmaier Memorial Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for non-traditional students who are graduating from a degree program at WSCO, and have been accepted into a four-year baccalaureate program. This memorial scholarship was established by the family of Ms. Feldmaier to honor her lifelong love of teaching.

First Generation Scholarship provides support to a first generation student enrolled in an associate degree program.

Cheryl Ann Fornnarino-Reeder Memorial Scholarship was established by the Riverview Credit Union in memory of Cheryl Ann Fornnarino Reeder, who was the Riverview Credit Union manager/CEO for 27 years and whose mother founded the Riverview Credit Union in 1968. The recipient must demonstrate school and/or community involvement, with preference given to students from Washington, Morgan or Wood Counties.

Foundation Annual Scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Foundation Executive Director and provides scholarship support to students that demonstrate financial need and academic promise.

The Gary and Sharon Frye Scholarship is established by members of the Frye family. The scholarship annually benefits a student in good academic standing who demonstrates financial need. The scholarship was created to honor the Frye family legacy and leave a lasting memory in honor of their father and mother's impact in the community.

Betty Hadler Memorial Scholarship is a merit scholarship awarded to a student who exhibits the qualities of leadership and has the career aspirations of owning or operating their own business.

Hellenic House WSCO2MC Scholarship provides assistance to students enrolled in the WSCO2MC program.

Holmes Family Scholarship is awarded to a student from either Ohio or West Virginia. This scholarship was established by Ronald and Louise Holmes.

The Carson Thomas Miller Memorial Scholarship was established by Dr. Carson and Barbara J. Miller in loving memory of their grandson. The award supports a student in the WSCO Social Services program with special consideration to someone who has been or is related to someone who has experienced challenges with suicide.

Jack G. Ingram Memorial Scholarship provides assistance to a non-traditional student enrolled full-time in a degree program or the Practical Nursing Program. Applicants must be a resident of Washington or Morgan County, Ohio, and demonstrate participation in community service. This scholarship was established by the Ingram family and friends, WSCO faculty and staff, and by community businesses and individuals to honor Mr. Ingram, former Dean of Business and Engineering.

P. J. Lee Memorial Scholarship benefits any WSCO student with significant financial need.

Patricia Ann McPeek Memorial Scholarship for Single Mothers is established by the children of Patricia Ann McPeek to provide financial assistance to single mothers.

Morgan County Scholarship provides financial assistance to a resident of Morgan County.

Donald Morris Charitable Trust Scholarship provides six full-ride scholarships to a student in each of the following programs: Diesel Truck Systems, Accounting Technology, Business Management Technology, Process Technician, Education Transfer, and Practical or Associate Degree Nursing. The scholarships covers tuition, books, and all fees.

Nine Oak Community Scholarship gives special consideration to students who face not just financial need, but experience other challenges such as homelessness, addiction recovery, ex-offender status, foster care, or transition from a residential treatment or housing program.

Non-Traditional Student Scholarship is awarded to a non-traditional student pursuing an associate degree. Special consideration will be given to veterans and single parents.

Order of the Eastern Star, Amazon Chapter #30 Scholarship is awarded to a non-traditional student from Noble County. This scholarship was established by the Amazon Chapter #30 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Peoples Bank High School Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Washington or Morgan County who is enrolled in any degree program at WSCO. This scholarship was established by People Bancorp Foundation.

Phi Theta Kappa All-Ohio Team Scholarship is awarded to PTK students who are named to the first or second All-Ohio Team by the Ohio Association of Community Colleges. This scholarship was established by Phi Theta Kappa.

Phi Theta Kappa, Holbert-Campbell Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to a second-year Phi Theta Kappa member who is enrolled in a degree program at Washington State College of Ohio. The recipient must provide evidence of involvement in campus /community service projects. This scholarship was established by the Alpha Rho Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at WSCO, and honors two of its members, Sondra Holbert, class of 2005, and Roy Campbell, class of 2004.

Peter Polites and Virginia Mayle Family Scholarship is awarded to a full-time WSCO student. The scholarship was established by Peter Polites and Virginia Mayle.

Gail Reynolds Student Success Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to a non-traditional, second-year student enrolled in any certificate or degree program. This scholarship was established by the Washington State College of Ohio Foundation Board in honor of Gail Reynolds, the first Foundation Executive Director.

Rotary Club of Belpre Textbook Scholarship provides financial support for the purchase of textbooks and other required course materials to students that reside in the area served by the Rotary Club of Belpre.

Tina K. Schaad Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a WSCO student who is a resident of Washington County, Ohio, and is pursuing a service-oriented degree. This scholarship was established by friends and colleagues in memory of Tina Schaad, who gave thirty years of service to Washington State College of Ohio.

Sowing Seeds Foundation Scholarship will benefit Washington State College of Ohio students with financial need.

Upward Bound Scholarship provides scholarships to those students who participated in the Upward Bound Academy at Washington State College of Ohio during their senior year of high school, and who also participated in one Upward Bound Academy summer session. This scholarship was established by the Upward Bound Parent Association.

The Ora Waveline Lane Memorial Scholarship was established by Dr. Jona and Mr. Josh Rinard in honor of Dr. Rinard’s grandmother, who was a single mother who prioritized family and believed in the transformative power of education. The award provides financial assistance to a student with financial need, with special preference given to single mothers.

Wendy’s Adoption Scholarship is awarded to students who have been adopted or who have been in a foster care program. This scholarship was established by Ray and Kim Blackburn.

Ethan and Susan Vessels Scholarship for Veterans is awarded to a U.S. military veteran who is enrolled full-time.

Zonta Club of the Mid-Ohio Valley Student Scholarship provides funding to non-traditional women students. This scholarship was established by Zonta Club of Marietta. Zonta is an international service organization dedicated to advancing the status of women.

A.D. Heddelson Family Scholarship provides a full scholarship for tuition, fees and books to a full-time student from the Frontier School District enrolled in an Engineering and Industrial Technology associate degree program, the Associate Degree Nursing program, or the Education Transfer program for the completion of the program.

Bailey Family Medical Laboratory Technology Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the Medical Laboratory Technology Program. Preference is given to students who are residents of Washington or Wood Counties that demonstrate financial need. This scholarship was established by Rebecca and Kenneth Bailey.

Deb Patrick Nursing Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for full-time students in the ADN Program, or part-time evening students in the LPN to ADN completion program. The scholarship was established by Deborah Patrick.

Donald Morris Charitable Trust Scholarship provides six full-ride scholarships to a student in each of the following programs: Diesel Truck Systems, Accounting Technology, Business Management Technology, Process Technician, Education Transfer, and Practical or Associate Degree Nursing. The scholarships covers tuition, books, and all fees.

Dorothy Fouss Greacen Memorial ADN Scholarship provides full in-state tuition to a student enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing Program for the completion of the program. This scholarship was made possible by John F. Greacen, Jr. in loving memory of his wife, Dorothy Fouss Greacen.

Dorothy Fouss Greacen Memorial LPN Scholarship provides full in-state tuition to a student enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program for the completion of the program. This scholarship was made possible by John F. Greacen, Jr. in loving memory of his wife, Dorothy Fouss Greacen.

Dr. Paul Prachun Radiologic Technology Bridge Scholarship is awarded to full-time students enrolled in the school of Radiology Technology during the summer term. The scholarship was established by friends of Dr. Prachun.

The Nine Oaks Health Sciences Scholarship is awarded to a non-traditional student enrolled full-time in a Health Sciences program. Recipients must demonstrate participation in community service and plan to remain in Appalachia after graduation. This scholarship was established by Darren Pitchford.

Tim and Jane O’Brien Nursing Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for full-time students in the second year of the ADN Program. The scholarship was established by Tim and Jane O’Brien.

Virgil and Glenda Michaels Family Scholarship provides a full scholarship for tuition, fees and books to a full-time student who graduated from Parkersburg High School (WV) and is enrolled in an Engineering and Industrial Technology associate degree program, the Associate Degree Nursing program, or the Education Transfer program for the completion of the program.

Public Service

Public Service

Criminal Justice Club Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in a Criminal Justice Technology degree program. It was established by the Criminal Justice Club of WSCO.

The Anna Marie Copen Scholarship provides assistance to students enrolled in the Peace Officer Basic Training (POBA) or in the Associate of Applied Science Criminal Justice degree program. The scholarship was established by friends, family, and Washington State College of Ohio faculty and staff to honor Anna Marie Copen and her lifetime support of criminal justice training.
