Institutional Scholarships

WSCC Scholarship Program for High School Seniors

The WSCC High School Senior scholarship descriptions are below. To apply, please apply to Washington State, have a completed FAFSA on file, and an application turned in no later than March 15, 2016. To apply, click here.

Washington Scholars Award is a competitive scholarship in the amount of full-tuition (up to $4,200 per academic year). The recipients will be selected from students who meet the criteria for the Presidential Scholarship. To be eligible, students must meet all the requirements of the Presidential Scholarship and submit a letter of recommendation by March 15, 2016. If selected, the recipient must serve as a peer mentor and will be eligible for a $500 Honors Program text book award if accepted into the Honors Program. The scholarship will be renewable for up to 4 semesters.

Presidential Scholarship is a competitive scholarship for half-tuition (up to $2,000 per academic year). To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 or a minimum of a 23 composite score on the ACT. Candidates must also test college-ready. The scholarship will be renewable for 4 semesters and recipients will be eligible for the $500 Honors Program text book award if accepted into the Honors Program.

To be considered, students must submit the following by March 15, 2016:

• Official high school transcripts showing grades through the Junior year

Dean's Scholarship is a competitive scholarship for $1,000 per academic year. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or a minimum of a 20 composite score on the ACT. Candidates must also test college-ready. The scholarship will be renewable for 4 semesters and recipients will be eligible for the $500 Honors Program text book award if accepted into the Honors Program.

To be considered, students must submit the following by March 15, 2016:

• Official high school transcripts showing grades through the Junior year

Opportunity Award is a competitive scholarship for $500 per academic year. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.75 or a minimum 18 composite score on the ACT. Students must also complete the first semester of college with a minimum 2.75 GPA and test college-ready. The scholarship will be non-renewable.

To be considered, students must submit the following by March 15, 2016:

• Official high school transcripts showing grades through the Junior year

Tech Prep Scholarship is a competitive scholarship for $500-$2000 per academic year. This does not impact the amount awarded to current Tech Prep Scholarship recipients. This scholarship is non-renewable and open to Ohio residents only.

WSCC Scholarship Program for Current Students

Continuing Students Award is a scholarship for up to $1,000 per academic year. Award amounts are based on a sliding scale that recognizes both academic merit and financial need. Funds are limited so apply early for best consideration. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, be in good standing with Satisfactory Academic Progress and have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year. Institutional Scholarships

Spring Start Scholarship is available to all students starting their school year at Washington State Community College during the Spring 2016 semester. This includes new students and any student continuing their education after not attending during the Fall 2015 term. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis. The amount of the scholarship is up to $1000. Applications are available HEREDeadline to apply is December 15, 2015.

Outside Scholarships

J. Bryan and Norma R. McCann Charitable and Educational Trust is a scholarship available to graduating Seniors and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year College students who are graduates of Fort Frye High School or any public or private high school in Washington County, Ohio.

To be considered, students must submit the following by April 25, 2016:

• J. Bryan and Norma R. McCann Charitable and Educational Trust Application
• 2016-17 FAFSA
• Complete transcript of all college grades
• Complete transcript of high school grades and ACT or SAT scores

New applicants must also provide:
• At least two Letters of Recommendation
• Evidence of acceptance to school 

**If you have taken College Credit Plus, Dual Enrollment or PSEO classes you must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in order for a scholarship to be awarded.**
