Washington State Community College Foundation Scholarships

 

Washington State Institutional Scholarships

Honor Scholarship
Annual scholarships of $2,500 are awarded to students of Belpre, Frontier, Fort Frye, Marietta, Morgan, Warren or Waterford high schools who graduated with a grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.00 scale, or who have a composite score of 25 on the ACT* or equivalent composite on the SAT*.  Washington and Morgan county residents who graduated from other high schools or who complete a home-schooling curriculum with the required grades or test scores are also eligible. Students who are eligible for this scholarship are notified prior to high school graduation, and are provided with the initial paperwork to complete to accept the scholarship.

*ACT/SAT scores are not required for admission to Washington State Community College.

GED Scholarship
Annual scholarships of $2,500 may be awarded to current recipients of the G.E.D. (General Education Development). Applications are available in the Financial Aid office after February of each award year.

Non Traditional Scholarship
Annual scholarships of $2,500 may be awarded to first-time non-traditional students who plan to enroll for at least six (6) credit hours. Applications are available in the Financial Aid office after February of each award year.

Tech Prep Scholarship
Annual scholarships of $2,500 are awarded to current high school graduates demonstrating academic excellence who have participated in their high school's College Tech Prep program. Applications are available in the Financial Aid office after February of each award year.

Trustee Scholarship
Annual scholarships of $2,500 may be awarded to current high school graduates in the service district of Washington State. Applications are available in the Financial Aid office after February of each award year. 

 

Outside Scholarships


Builder's Exchange Scholarship
The BX Scholarship is awarded to college students who plan to pursue a degree in a construction-related field. Majors of recent recipients range from architecture to engineering. Applications may be downloaded from http://www.bx.org/ and click on Youth Programs and Scholarship.

Marine Corps Scholarship
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is looking for students who qualify for the 2009-2010 academic year scholarship. Application forms are available online at http://www.mcsf.org/.  

Ohio Transfer Council OTC Scholarship
To be eligible, students must be transferring from a participating OTC college to a participating OTC college. Both colleges must be participating member of the Ohio Transfer Council. Transfer students must have completed at least 30 semester credit hours OR 45 quarter credit hours. Transfer students must have maintained a 2.5 cumulative grade point average during their undergraduate coursework. Students may apply by downloading an application at http://www.ohiotransfer.org/.

Ohio EPA's Environmental Education Fund Scholarship

Funding comes from civil penalties collected by Ohio EPA for violations of Ohio's air and water pollution control laws. The scholarship program is administered by the Ohio Academy of Science. It is designed to motivate students to enter environmental science and engineering professions, and to reward outstanding undergraduate students based on merit, enhancing their employability in environmental fields.Students are selected to receive scholarships based on the following criteria: an academic record with at least an overall GPA of 3.0; original research, scholarship, employment, volunteering, or other unique contributions to environmental science or environmental engineering; activity in nonathletic extra-curricular activities and organizations ability to communicate; recommendations from education and environmental professionals; and a major in an environmental science or environmental engineering program.

Senior Citizen
Any person who is 60 years of age or older, having resided in Ohio for one year of having relocated to Ohio for retirement, may attend credit courses and classes with a tuition scholarship. This scholarship does not cover other fees.

Senior Year Scholarship Opportunity Young Men of Color
The Orphan Foundation of America awards over $1 million annually in scholarships to students in post secondary programs nationwide. Students who may be eligible must be currently in their final year of college or a technical program, and who can verify their status as having aged out of the US foster care system. Talbots Scholarship Foundation

The Talbots Charitable Foundation is a program that empowers women to enrich themselves through learning and achieve a college education later in life. Tylenol Scholarship
