MARIETTA, OH (December 19, 2017)—While former Washington State Community College (WSCC) President Bradley Ebersole may have retired from the institution, his legacy will live on through his newly endowed scholarship.

Originally established in 2011 as part of Dr. Ebersole’s inauguration, the “Presidential Scholarship for Leadership Development” has provided support for WSCC students for over 6 years. Having reached the endowment level, the fund will provide financial support for students for perpetuity and has been renamed the “Dr. and Mrs. Bradley J. Ebersole Presidential Scholarship.”

A community college graduate himself, Ebersole was uniquely able to relate to the students who attend WSCC. Receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, he always made a point to mention his community college experience to students oftentimes saying, “I am a product of a community college and that degree has served me very well.” Those words have inspired many WSCC students to continue their education and pursuit of a successful career.

“The years that Gail and I lived in Marietta were significant, and it is important to us to give back to this community, and college, which has been so very gracious and accepting,“ Ebersole said. “We intend to continue to grow this scholarship in an effort to stay connected to this chapter of our lives, and it is our hope is that this will contribute to the impact WSCC has on the wellbeing of the Mid-Ohio Valley. I considered it an honor to have served as president of WSCC.”

Awarded annually, the Ebersole’s scholarship will continue to provide tuition assistance to a degree-seeking student that exhibits financial need and is in good academic standing.

“Financial assistance is critical for the students that attend WSCC. We are so appreciative of Dr. and Mrs. Ebersole’s generosity,” said Anna Rittenhouse, Director of the Foundation. “The Ebersoles were a very active and important part of the Marietta community, and their genuine interest in the success of our students will live on forever through this generous and thoughtful gift.”
