The staff of the Learning Center want to see you succeed!
Located on the first floor of the Arts and Sciences Center, the Learning Center is the place to go for additional help with your classes. We are open from 8:00 to 7:00 Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 to 4:30 on Fridays.
The Learning Center:
- Tutoring program - WSCC offers free subject labs in English and math and science, as well as eLabs and one-on-one tutoring. Click the link for details!
- American Sign Language (ASL) lab - flexible hours, and tutors are usually on staff from 9 AM to 6PM Monday through Thursday.
- Computer lab - ten station computer lab open to all students while the Learning Center is open.
- Disability Services - This program ensures that students who have disabilities, whether physical or mental in nature, have equal access to college resources. Washington State can provide accommodations for anyone who needs them. To learn more, click the link!
- Equipment Loans- The Learning Center has a number of TI-83 calculators and laptop computers that can be borrowed for an entire semester at a time. Visit the Learning Center to learn more!
- Make-up Testing - depending on individual faculty policy, some instructors allow students to make up missed tests. Students taking these make-up tests must provide photo identification, and must allow enough time to complete the test before the Learning Center closes for the day.
Programs at the Learning Center are provided through many sponsors and programs in addition to college funding. The Learning Center would like to thank the Ohio College Access Network, Great Lakes Higher Education Guarantee Corporation, The Connect to Success Partnership, the United States Americorps, and The Washington State Community College Outreach Department, Tech Prep and Foundation for helping to continue funding for student success programs.
Introducing eLabs at WSCC
The Learning Center now offers email tutoring services for students! Here's how things work:
-
A student can send a question or writing submission to one of our three eLabs.
-
Learning Center lab tutors will receive the email and respond! Lab tutors work Monday through Thursday, 10-1 and 4-6, and will reply as quickly as they are able. Please note that any submissions sent over the weekend can not be addressed until the following week.

- This lab can handle most math questions up to calculus. Tutors will be happy to show students the steps to solve your questions, but will not solve the problems for them.

- This lab works mostly with chemistry questions and problems, just like the regular math/science lab. Tutors will explain concepts and illustrate with examples.

- You can submit a paper to be reviewed as well as ask any grammatical questions. Our tutors will not edit students' papers, but review them for common error patterns and overall problems, and return the paper.
Please note that eLab tutors will not do the work for students; they will assist in exploring trends, misconceptions, or errors in student submissions.
Help Desk
The Help Desk, on the second floor of the Arts & Sciences building, is your technology resource. The computer lab has twenty computers available from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday. Computer support is also available during that time.
The help desk staff can help you navigate MyWSCC to access your email, web advisor, or online courses, and can answer many other technical questions.
