Information for Veterans

WSCC is proud to serve our Veterans
Washington State Community College welcomes men and women who have served in the U.S. military service and offers a number of specialized services to meet your needs. WSCC has been recognized by GI-Jobs as a Military Friendly School for two consecutive years. More than just a slogan, WSCC works to meet the unique needs of members of the military, including individual advising, converting military education to college credit, connecting with other veterans on campus, as well as specialized skills development and career training opportunities.
Are you seeking a college degree? Job training? Maybe you're not sure what's the best way to use the skills you gained serving in the military. We can help. Years of military training can equal potential earned credit towards a degree or certificate program. Additionally, a wide variety of educational assistance provided by the Veterans Administration (VA) - including the Post 9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Transfer of Benefit, and Veterans Vocational Rehab - offer varying opportunities for U.S. veterans. For more information on the GI Bill go to www.gibill.va.gov.
Veterans Club
Greg Mitchell heads up WSCC's Veterans Club, and is the VA certifying official. The veterans club includes members that are active-duty, National Guard, reserve, veterans or veteran's family members. "Our main purpose is to bond together these people who have very unique experiences," says Mitchell, "The club also gives them a voice on campus and we hold a seat in the Student Senate." The Veterans Club communicates with members electronically and shares helpful information in subjects such as education or healthcare. The Veterans Club is 60 members strong and Mitchell says he has received beneficial feedback from the participating veterans.
