MARIETTA, OHIO—Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) is offering $1,000 scholarships to support and encourage current students to persist and new students to enroll for the Spring 2022 semester. The institution is also continuing to distribute the remaining funds available from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).

In an effort to provide more opportunities for students to pursue higher education, WSCO is offering two different scholarships for the spring semester—Spring Start and Spring Achievement. The Spring Start Scholarship is available to new students who plan to enroll at Washington State during the spring 2022 semester. The Spring Achievement Scholarship is available to current WSCO students who are continuing their enrollment in spring 2022. Both scholarship opportunities will be awarded on a competitive basis for spring term and are valued up to $1,000. Scholarship applications are available at wscc.edu/scholarships. The deadline to apply for these spring scholarships is December 15, 2021.

Additionally, the institution will continue the distribution of Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF). With these funds, Washington State offers two types of support. The first, identified by the college as the Community Impact Grant, covers the cost of up to 15 credit hours of tuition and course fees. The second type of support is earmarked for students who need emergency assistance. These funds will be awarded to help with expenses beyond tuition such as transportation, technology access, and childcare. Because the college has a limited amount of HEERF funds available, they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications are available on the college website at wscc.edu/current/financial-aid/covid-resources/.

To be considered for any of these funds, students are required to have a 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the college. For questions about any of the resources available as well as to make an appointment for FAFSA assistance, contact the financial aid department at 740.568.1908 or email finaid@wscc.edu.

Looking beyond spring semester, WSCO also has scholarship opportunities available for the 2022-23 academic year. To be considered for approximately $300,000 of scholarships through both the College and the WSCO Foundation, students only need to fill out one simplified scholarship application called the One and Done application. The deadline to apply for scholarships for the 2022-23 academic year is March 15, 2022. Applications can be found at wscc.edu/scholarships
