MARIETTA—The Malta-McConnelsville Rotary Club contributed $10,000 to the Washington State College of Ohio Foundation to endow a scholarship in the club’s name. The scholarship was created to perpetuate the organization’s mission to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

Chris Penrose, former Malta-McConnelsville Rotary Club president and 30-plus-year Rotary member, explained that the organization has a long history of providing local high school graduates with scholarships, and as community leaders, they made the corporate decision to establish a scholarship at WSCO that would allow them to also support adults from the Morgan County community who are pursuing an education.

The Malta-McConnelsville Rotary Club Scholarship is an endowed scholarship that will annually benefit a Morgan County resident in good academic standing who has financial need, with first consideration going to an adult student or a student with dependent children.

The Washington State College of Ohio Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable corporation administered by a Board of Directors composed of community leaders and institutional representatives. Gifts made to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and are used exclusively to support the College’s mission, its programs, and its students.
