Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Mark Nutter

MARIETTA, OHIO (September 29, 2017)— Dr. Mark Nutter, Vice President of Academic Affairs for Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) was recently honored with the Difference Maker award given by The Ohio Valley Educational Service Center (OVESC).

Dr. Nutter, along with Mark Schwendeman, were recognized for their efforts to support the Student Readiness Collaborative (SRC), a program developed by OVESC to better prepare high school juniors and seniors for college, careers, and life. “[Nutter and Schwendeman] have both shown tremendous support in the Ohio Valley Student Readiness Collaborative,” said Christopher Keylor, Superintendent of OVESC.

Keylor praised the contributions Dr. Nutter made to the SRC program and how his insight in higher education aided its success. “He offers great feedback to what colleges expect from incoming students and in return helps the SRC develop ways to better prepare students to become college ready.”

The SRC includes every high school and career center in Guernsey, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, and Washington counties, and six institutions of Higher Education. The main goals of the project are to increase the number of students who are college ready, create a culture of seamless collaboration between educators of high school and higher education, and provide high-quality professional development for educators.

“We consider it a privilege to partner with the Ohio Valley Educational Service Center to support the Student Readiness Collaborative,” said WSCO President Dr. Vicky Wood. “We are dedicated to the success of our community’s future through innovative initiatives, like this one, that remove barriers that may hinder students from furthering their education.”
