MARIETTA, OH (April 2, 2019)– The Marketing Department at Washington State College of Ohio is celebrating a recent award for its website. The institution’s online presence won a Silver Award in the sixth annual Education Digital Marketing Awards.

The Education Digital Marketing Awards, endorsed by Higher Education Marketing Report, annually recognize the best educational websites, digital content, electronic communications, mobile media, and social media.

This year, wscc.edu was recognized out of entries from more than 1,000 colleges, universities, and secondary schools from across the country. Gold, silver, bronze, and merit awards were issued for entries that received top marks from judges. Criteria included creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality, and overall appeal. In total, there were 29 categories and 14 groups judged.

This recognition follows a complete redesign of Washington State’s website in late 2017 with the help of Cincinnati-based marketing firm B63 Line. Since then, the marketing department has maintained strict content standards and a strong commitment to the integrity of the contemporary design, ensuring the site always delivers a positive user experience.

“First impressions are very important, and oftentimes, our website is the first introduction to WSCO for many future students and their parents,” explained Amanda Herb, Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “So it was our top priority to create a site that would provide a positive user experience to help demystify the college search process for families. It’s easy-to-navigate and mobile-friendly, but equally, it has a contemporary image that supports our brand,” she continued.

“This award acknowledges the many hours our marketing department spent designing both content and format to ensure our forward-facing image is a strong representation of Washington State.”

Submissions were reviewed by a national panel of industry experts and were judged against entries from similar-sized organizations. Judges for the Education Digital Marketing Awards consisted of a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals, and the editorial board of Higher Education Marketing Report.
