MARIETTA—Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) is inviting the public to visit campus, enjoy some free ice cream, and check out the recently completed renovations made to its Health, Engineering, Arts and Sciences, and Cyber Security areas.

Dubbed Snoop & Scoop, the event, slated for August 9 from 5-7 p.m., is designed as an open invitation to the community to check out the improvements made to several areas of the college with the added bonus of a sweet and refreshing treat from Velvet Ice Cream, one of the event sponsors.

“There’s been a host of changes made to the WSCO campus over the past year. Snoop & Scoop is a great reason for the public to stop by and check out what we’ve done,” explained Director of Enrollment Services and Financial Aid Reba Bartrug.

Among the renovations made are the new hy-flex learning classrooms, revamp of the cyber security classroom, as well as the new state-of-the-art labs for the Advanced Manufacturing & Integration Center and Health & Sciences areas.

“We are the community’s college and this is our opportunity to showcase the changes that have been made possible because of its support,” Bartrug said. “Bring your kids and introduce them to all the exciting opportunities WSCO has to offer,” she encouraged.

While the event is not designed as an enrollment/recruitment event for the college, Bartrug said that staff from admissions and financial aid will be available to answer questions. Additionally, faculty from every division will be available to show off their lab spaces and student projects, as well as talk about their programs and general education courses.

Several community outreach resources will also be set up during the event, including: Washington County Ohio Dept of Jobs & Family Services, Ohio Means Jobs, Southeast Ohio Youth Mentoring, Ohio Ombudsman, WVDHHR, Washington-Morgan Community Action, and Wood County Senior Center.

The end-of-summer drop-in affair is sponsored by Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services and Velvet Ice Cream and will feature fun prizes and giveaways as well as lots of social media photo opportunities with the college mascot, Benji the buck.

RSVPs for this event are not required but encouraged. Anyone who RSVP’s by August 3 will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card. To register, visit wscc.edu/snoop-scoop-open-house.
