Contact Tracing

It is required that all members of the WSCC community engage in and cooperate with contact tracing as requested by the Ohio Department of Health and the Marietta/Belpre City Health Department.

WSCC Process

  •  WSCC will work with the health department in which the student/employee resides to support their efforts in contact tracing
    •  The health department will work to identify individuals that have been exposed to the infected individual using the following exposure guidelines:
      •  Two days before positive test result or symptoms appear
      •  Within 6 feet of the individual for more than 15 minutes
  •  Employees should not discuss the situation with employees/students.
  •  Faculty members are asked to create/maintain a seating chart for classes in which 6 ft. between students is not possible.
  •  While the student is in isolation/quarantine, faculty members are asked to:
    •  Help the student complete his/her work remotely (if possible), or
    •  Create a plan to make-up coursework when the student returns to class, or
    •  Implement a plan for an “incomplete” grade.

Health Department Process

Health department will notify students/employees based on their exposure to the individual who tests positive.

  •  The individual who tests positive may not want that information shared beyond those involved in contact tracing.
  •  Only people contacted by the health department will be asked to quarantine.

We recommend that in preparation for your potential participation in contact tracing, each member of the WSCC community know their closest contacts as defined by the CDC.

Protocol for Returning to Campus

Provide a health department release of quarantine/isolation to the WSCC Human Resources Office, located in the Library building.

  •  The individual who tests positive may return to campus/class after the 10-day isolation period.
  •  The exposed student may return to campus after the 14-day quarantine period.
