MARIETTA— Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) has established an articulation agreement with the University of Cincinnati (UC) that will create a new degree advancement opportunity for its students. The transfer pathway allows students to transfer their social services associate degree credits to UC’s online social work program to complete a bachelor’s degree.

The agreement provides an opportunity for WSCO students to take steps toward completing a bachelor’s degree at the University of Cincinnati without compromising work and family commitments. Students will have a seamless transfer process and are given a clear path to degree completion.

“The partnership between WSCO and the University of Cincinnati allows for our students to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Social Service while also staying local.  Ultimately it allows for students to work and serve our community in the area of social services which is currently a career field in high demand,” explained WSCO’s Dean of Transfer and Public Services Dr. Jona Hall. “It is an area of need for the southeastern region of Ohio.  Given the chance to stay local and complete a degree online through the University of Cincinnati is a win-win for our students, our families, and our local economy by filling in-demand jobs within the region.”

The agreement serves to support not only current demand, but the needs of the future. The federal government predicts career prospects in this field will demonstrate a 16-percent growth rate. This figure represents more than double the average employment growth projected for all occupations through 2026.

“This finalized agreement reflects the University of Cincinnati’s commitment and partnership with Washington State College of Ohio, to ensure students in WSCO’s Associates of Arts / Social Service Transfer program are able to maximize the benefit of their hard academic work to fulfill their continued educational goal of achieving a Bachelor of Social Work degree,” said Dr. Wayne Kinney, Program Director at UC. “We are very excited to be a part of these learners’ continued educational journeys and feel confident learners will find UC a very welcoming community ready to support them every step of the way. One of our Success Coordinators is waiting to get started helping you, and I am super excited to meet each of you. Next starts Here!”
