The Alpha Rho Gamma chapter of the national honor society of community colleges Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) at Washington State Community College (WSCC) recently held an induction ceremony

MARIETTA, OH (June 5, 2019)– The Alpha Rho Gamma chapter of the national honor society of community colleges Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) at Washington State Community College (WSCC) recently held an induction ceremony and presented two awards.

During its annual spring ceremony, the chapter added 49 members to its roster. New members include: Omar Haider Al Omar, Taylor Chase, Kayleanna Cochran, Seth Coffman, Kevin Coup, Erica Dawson, Denise DeLong, Hannah Dunfee, Chelsea Durham, Elizabeth Fletcher, Carrington Foreman, Lewis Guinn, Addison Herb, Michael Hildebrand, Charley Hill, Kole Hoag, Addie Huffman, Ryan Kerns, Gary Lawyer, Taylor Lemasters, Allison Lisk, Valerie Lowe, Kimberly McLeish, Madalyn Moore, Haylee Morgan, Clayton Myers, Tanner Palmer, Chelsey Pattison, Emma Petty, Kelley Powell, Kayleigh Rexroad, Cody Ridgeway, Autumn Roddy, Marissa Ruble, Ronald Salazar, Tara Snider, Ciara Space, Chyla Stephfus, Melissa Sterling, Chasity Stewart-West, Susanna Strode, Brooks Suprano, Drew Taylor, Danielle Thrasher, Brittany Titus, Brittiny Toups, Josylin Treadway, Jonathon Wagner, and Kristin Wilson.

During the ceremony, the club also recognized Jake Binegar and Cody Lee with Distinguished Member Medallions. Binegar, a local musician, used his talents to raise funds in support of the chapter’s travel expense fund. Lee was named a Distinguished Alumni of the chapter for his post-graduation involvement in chapter activities, including PTK orientation sessions, chapter recruitment, and new officer mentoring.

Officers for the 2019-2020 academic year are: President – Ronald Salazar, Vice President of Fundraising – Letitia Glass, Vice President of Service – Amanda Harvey, and Vice President of Communication – Casey Higgins.

In July, members of the chapter will attend the Ohio Honors in Action Conference in Cincinnati. In August they will assist with the Eve Auction at the Lafayette Hotel.

Additionally, PTK Advisor Brad Merritt was recently named to the Empty Bowls Board of Directors. His appointment was directly related to the club’s involvement with the annual Empty Bowls MOV luncheon, which raised $6,500 earlier this year to support local food pantries.
