Step #4 Verification

Verification is the process of confirming that information reported by you and your parents or spouse on the FAFSA is accurate.

If You’re Selected

Don’t panic. Each year, approximately 30% of student applicants nationwide are randomly selected by the Federal Central Processing System for verification. The college may also randomly select you.

If you’re selected for verification, we’ll contact you by mail and your WSCO email explaining what additional documentation must be provided. It is important that you submit the necessary items as soon as possible to avoid delays with your financial aid.

Once the required documentation is received, we’ll compare the documents to the information initially provided on your FAFSA. If there are any discrepancies compared to the information on the FAFSA, we’ll make the corrections and you’ll receive an updated Student Aid Report. Within two weeks after the verification process is complete, you’ll receive your Financial Aid package.

If you’ve been selected for verification, please visit our Forms and Documents page to view, complete or print the necessary forms.
